Sharon's Story
Life
After graduating from Arlington High School in 1975 I moved to New Haven and attended Yale. I took some time off to work in a restaurant and to do volunteer work in a battered women's shelter. I graduated in 1980 with a BA in American Studies. After staying a few months post-graduation in New Haven I returned to the Boston area to work at McLean Hospital. I moved to NY in 1984 to do doctoral work in clinical psychology. In the intervening years I explored the city's many neighborhoods and took advantage of the rich cultural and artistic life here. ent time doing school-based clinical work in two different settings. My partner and I moved out to San Francisco in 1996 but she found the city too slow and unchallenging so we returned. I have been back in Brooklyn since 2000. For a while I was working with the city's foster care system doing clinical consultation and training. Now I am working in two grade schools as a psychologist. In addition to work I enjoy cooking, seeing art, dance, theater, and live music, and spending time with friends. My partner Carolina is Venezuelan and we like to travel together to visit family and friends.
