Sharon's Story
Ever since I was 4 years old I have wanted to be a nurse. After high school I went to work at the U of F but didn't like being a "clerk/secretary/switchboard operator" so I followed my dream and enrolled in the LPN program.
Our family doctor advised me to try that first to see if I liked it. I decided I liked doing patient care more than paper work so I stayed with the LPN program.
After graduation I worked in AGH emergency room for about 3 years. At this point I felt the need to study the bible more so I took off for Miami and enrolled in Florida Bible College where I studied for about 3 years and loved every minute of it.
I had some really wonderful experiences in Variety Children's Hospital while working my way through bible college. After bible college it was back to my home to be near my family and work at Shands Teac...Expand for more

My favorite job of all time was working for Dr. Billy Brashear in his office. He was the most wonderful boss and taught me a lot. He was more like a father to me than a boss and when my son came along he even thought of him as a surrogate "Grampa". I stayed home to raise my son for the next 18-19 years and slowly eased back into the work force.
Finally, just before my divorce I landed a job at the Alachua County Health Department where I stayed for almost 19 years until I retired in 2011.
I have had an exciting and wonderful life so far. I have done everything I wanted to do which was to become a nurse and a mother. Now I am reaping the benefits of being a grandmother! I have 2 beautiful granddaughters who fill my life with love! I am truly blessed by the Lord!
