Sharon's Story

I grew up roller skating at the Holiday Roller Rink. I also began bowling at Richland Bowl aroung 15yoa. I kept up with bowling in leagues and for money. After my son was born it was all about getting him to sports. He grew up in baseball down off Denton Hwy. I got him into bowling also. I had two more children, two girls. By that time, being single and raising them took everyting to keep going. I made an unfortunate move and married someone I shouldnt have and we moved to East Texas. We divorced and I got into Law Enforcement with the Berryville Police Dept. I then went to Jacksonville Police Dept. where I stayed for seven years as a Patrolman. I left there and went to the Sheriff Dept. as a Child Abuse Investigator for about two years until it got to be too much and I went back to Patrol. I left there in 1997 and moved with my husband to Weatherford so he could work on a Ranch. I really enjoyed it. I did that for a couple of years and then went to work for Wal Mart just as a past time. My husband got real sick with cancer and was dying on me. We ended up going to MD Anderson in Houston for only a couple of weeks which ended up being six months. But he was saved. In December of 2002 we moved back to Jacksonville and I trasferr...Expand for more
ed there. I really wanted to get back into law enforcement but I couldn't afford to loose the Insurance on my Husband. Sooooooo I am still at WAL Mart, 7yrs, in the Garden Center. If you get down this way stop by and visit. I would love to see anyone from School. Or come bowling, I am still at it bowling in Jacksonville at Highland lanes off Hwy.69 S. and in Palestine just off Hwy.79. Also I bowl in a travel league once a month that goes all over,we even bowl in the Dallas and Grand Prairie area the first weekend of the month. I really haven't had much of an exciting life but it's been full. With my three children and by husbands four children we have 20 grandkids and two great grandkids, three dogs and two cats. I was not the pretty one or the popular one but if more people would have taken the time to know me they would have seen what they really missed. I would have loved to have gotten to know alot of my classmates but was belittled and made fun of.I was really hurt the day we took pictures when I got the Physical Ed award. The air was thick and I remember hearing the snickering about ME being there. But you know, I am still physically active and can work circles around these young ones still.

While living in Garner it was so peaceful to sit outside and look up at the stars. No street lights to block the view. Still love looking at the stars
