Sharon's Story
My family and I have lived in California since 1986. We moved here 6 months after we married in Delaware in 1985. Right out of high school I went to Southern New Hampshire University, graduated and then lived and worked in Massachusetts, New Jersey, Philadelphia and Delaware. Never being on the west coast, my husband thought it would be cool to move to Cali, knowing I would like it. He knew me well because we have been here ever since, 30+ years. The only hard thing is that besides missing my family, It has been a challenge to keep in touch with my college classmates, let alone my HS classmates. A lot of years and miles have happened. We come back east periodically to visit both our families and attend family reunions. Both my daughters 26 & 29 are true Cali girls. To have the beach, mountains and dessert all within an hours drive is pretty amazing. They are both college grads and working in their fields. One ...Expand for more
as a graphic designer and the other as a Northrup engineer, using their talents and making us proud. I had 2 older twin sisters and an older brother at Roxbury at the same time as me and then my younger bro was a year behind me. I also had a younger sister who didn't go the RHS road. My mom is still alive but my dad passed in 2003. We live in 6 different states so thats hard. I played basketball and field hockey at Roxbury. At the collegiate level I went on to play basketball, field hockey, volleyball and softball. I come from and are still part of a very athletic family. I am currently employed and working quite a few different jobs. They are all very rewarding and bring me a lot of joy. Doing life is always challenging, but it has been very good to me. Like I always say, "Joy is what happens to us when we let ourselves recognize how good things really are!" A day doesn't pass that I don't feel blessed.
