Sharon's Story
Wow! How do you condense 52 in a couple of paragraphs!!
I married Kim Harris (also a '70 grad) in 1979, we have 3 kids who are currently 40, 36, and 34, and 4 grandchildren. I graduated from Tech in 1981 (yes it took a while) with a BA in Sociology and continued to work in the family business, Maxine's Accent, until 1997 when we moved to Liberal, KS. I was a substitute teacher there and realized that teaching children with special needs was what I wanted to do. We moved to the Dallas area in 2001, I continued to substitute and went through the Teacher Alternative Certification program through Region 10 and became a full time teacher of special ed students in 2004. In the summer of 2010 we moved to the family ranch near Snyder, Texas that I have managed since 1999, and taught 5th grad...Expand for more
e inclusion for 2 years.. I retired from teaching June 1, 2013 so that I could focus on the ranch business, including growing lavender and making lavender products, and be available to Kim due to his illness.
In July of 2014 I moved back to Garland where Kim needed to be close to his doctors. He passed away from stage 4 cancer on March 12, 2015 after a long, courageous seven year battle against that evil disease.
I now live in Lubbock, where all my kids and grandkids live!.
I have really enjoyed connected with many, many old friends from MHS through Facebook. But I occasionally reconnect with people here who haven't found their way, or just don't want to be part of Facebook. Either way, it's been so much fun.
I would love to hear all about you! Take care all!
