Sharon J's Story
Life
19 years ago (can it have BEEN that long???), I amazed family and friends alike by deciding to FINALLY get married again. I had been single for more than 30 years at the time! My husband Mark and I live in Louisiana with our multiple dogs, two horses, a mule, and a cat we've had for 18 years! (It's not as chaotic as it sounds -- honest!) The rest of my family still lives in the Dayton area and although I get back for occasional visits, we encourage them to visit us. While caring for all the critters it makes it pretty hard to get away for any length of time.
I actually moved to Louisiana the first time back in 1974. In 1988 I went back to college in Texas (our family members are all "late bloomers") and when I graduated I took a job with an IP firm in Cincinnati that I planned to keep while attending Chase Law School at night. Instead, I married my best friend's husband's best friend - we met at their wedding - and moved BACK to Louisiana, and went back to work as a patent paralegal for the same law firm I was working for before I left! It doesn't sound like progress, does it? But it was the right choice. Now ...Expand for more
at 71 I finally retired this year and so has my husband who's a few years younger than me. So we are having a fine time here at home at last!
I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers that quiet girl I used to be -- the one who spent only her last year of high school at Fairmont.
And I'd also REALLY love to hear from anyone else who got interested in (or maybe "addicted to" is a more accurate term) horses late in life! I first took a riding lesson for my birthday when I turned 62. Just a few months later I bought a first horse. But once we got a barn built we've had all three of them here on our own property.
And if you're incredibly bored and have absolutely nothing to do at the moment (right -- who EVER has "nothing to do"??), you might check out my blog at:

I blog primarily to keep my family, living in Ohio and various other places around the country, up to date without having to spend hours on the phone. So given that you don't know me well, you would probably find it incredibly boring, but there you are. It's there if you're interested. I'm just sayin' . . .
