Sharon's Story
Hi,
Hard to believe it's been 50 years since we walked the halls of WLHS! I am now residing in Ocala, FL with my husband, Dick. He is a wonderful guy and definitely my soulmate. We will be celebrating our 35th wedding anniversary this June. We have been in Florida for 28years. I don't miss the CT winters! We have 2 children (actually my stepchildren), 6 grandchildren and 2 cats. Our son, Rick and his family reside in Clinton, CT. Our daughter, Kristen and her family reside in Gloucester , MA. My parents still live in the same house on North Street in Windsor Locks ~ my Mom celebrated her 95th last July and is still going strong--some of you might remember that wild and crazy party I had there in 1966! I know my folks haven't let me forget it 😜
After school, I worked at SNET for 21 years. My husband and I both took early retirements from SNET and moved to FL in 1990. I then became a VP of Human Resources in banking an...Expand for more

When we moved to Ocala in 2007, I started my own catsitting and housesitting business and also took up canvass and glass art. I have actually sold a few paintings and glassware at local art shows and am considered one of their local artist. In 2008, I had the opportunity to work for the Federal Government to do school,testing throughout Florida. I got to see places I never knew existed and met a lot of great people. Three years ago, a friend asked me about becoming a paraprofessional (teachers assistant) at one of our local elementary schools. I looked into it and jumped at the opportunity. I work with children who have learning disabilities...it's the most rewarding job I've ever had and I LOVE it. It doesn't even feel like a job and I get all the holidays, vacations and Summer's off!! I don't see real retirement in my future.....plus I'm still too "young" to retire!!!
