Sharon's Story
Has it really been over 50 years? Gosh, the time has really passed quickly, too quickly.
I married in 1960 and we have 2 children. Our son, David, is 43 and our daughter, Julie, is 39. Neither are married and neither have children. While we would like to be grandparents, it was their choice and we respect it.
Since retiring from my full time nursing job, I have been keeping busy growing my travel agency. Just recently, I returned to working as an RN one day a week in a Chemical Dependency unit. I really missed the teaching aspect of nursing and this has provided me with the opportunity to educate.
I feel very blessed to have my travel agency because it has provided John and I the means to visit countries worldwide. I specialize in selling the South Pacific and have been to Australia, New Zealand and Fiji over 25 times - and will be going back to Australia again...Expand for more
in September for 2 weeks. We are very fortunate to still be in good health which makes it easier to get out and explore new destinations.
I still think of my "wonder years" at St. Greg's. Some memories good, some not so good. I remember our little study group cutting classes, going to the cafeteria to study (yes, really study) only to be startled by the sound of the fire alarm....Oh, oh a drill. We had to hide under the stairs so we wouldn't be caught. I remember the dash to the gym to change for class. First over got the locked stalls to change into those "balloon bottom" girls gym outfits. How attractive.
My days are full as I am also a community activist and have recently became a political activist. What fun!
