Sharon's Story
As of Feb. 1st I retired after 33 years at GE Plastics/Sabic Inovative Plastics. It feels amazing. Entering into this phase of my life is filled with interesting possibilites. I have been married twice and divorced twice. My oldest son Travis is now 42 years old and has given me two beautiful grandchildren. Madison Renee will 12 this may and Jacob Allen will be 9 in May. Craig, my youngest died as a result of a car accident July 4th, 1990. "I could have missed the pain, but I would have missed the dance" is a line from Garth Brooks song the dance that I use when ever there is a loss in my life.
For some reason turning 62 this month bothers me a lot less than turning 60. Go figure. I am currently remodeling parts of my home now that I have the time to look over the shoulders of the contractors(ha ha) I'll let you know how they handled it. et. I do have an 8 month old Basset hound called Murphy's Law (a named well earned broke my first bone due to him) and a 5 month old German Shepherd. When they are in the house it is as if I have 6 two year olds running loose and out of control. That's when I take a momment "what was I thinking" Oh well I live at obeidence training twice a week these days. Boredom is something I rarely experience.
Being a sick day grandma, every other weekends overnights with the grandkids. Visiting family and friends out of town on the other weekends and visits with friends and family during the week pretty much fills up my dance card.
I'm looking forward to catching up with old classmates. Nora Lou Egan and I are in contact weekly via email. Just recently I finally gave in and got on facebook, oh yes really stepping out there. Here's to all of wise 60 somethings showing the 30 somethings how to live out loud. Sharon
