Sharon's Story
Workplace
I started working as an elementary music teacher in Charlevoix in 1970. I was layed off because of a millage vote and I worked for several months as a wire drawer, making wire in Charlevoix. Then in 1972, I got another elementary music job with the Lake Shore Public Schools in St. Clair Shores, MI. I working there until 1982, when another millage vote caused me to be layed off. ...Expand for more
I substitute taught for 2 years when I was able to get a job as a civil servant at TACOM. I worked for the Dept of Defanse supplying the US Army with equipment. In 1990, I was recalled to teaching at Lake Shore, got layed off again and substituted for 2 years. Then in 1994, I was recalled to Lake Shore to teach Middle School Social Studies and Choir classes. I retired from teaching in 2003.
