Sharon's Story
Life
I retired from the Duval County School as Assistant Principal at N. B. Forrest High School, June 30, 2006. In October of 2006 and took on the very rewarding task of becoming a puppy raiser for Southeastern Guide Dogs. "Salty" a female yellow lab has been a much loved member of our family since then. Unfortunately as what happens to all puppy raisers Salty will be returning to Southeastern within days to begin her guide dog training. She will be greatly missed not only by me but David and Travis our youngest son as well as our granddaughters Anna(8 on Jan. 14) and Lauren(6). The good news is that I will replace Salty with the girls new brother Trevor as his Mom Tara our older daughter has to return to work as a math and social stu...Expand for more

Because of business for David and volunteer obligations that I have continued into retirement we have done quite a bit of traveling. Salty has gone with us to Washington DC and San Francisco and Lake Tahoe(via airplane), also Atlanta(several times) Orlando, Tallahassee, Boca Raton, North Carolina and Calloway Gardens. One of the advantages of having a guide dog puppy is that they go every where with you, don't have to worry about puppy sitters.
For the last year I have also been spearheading the committee to establish a Lutheran High School in Jacksonville to open the fall of 2008. Lots of work, but the end result will be so beneficial to all the future students who will be fortunate to attend.
