Sharron's Story

Life I was born in Wichita, Ks. I lived in Arkansas City, Ks. until 1963. I attended Pershing Elem. and Adams Elem., then moved to rural Ark City and attended Oak Grove School. My best friends were twin boys that went to that Rural school until High School. I moved to Bossier City La. Because my father was transferred from Boeing with the Strategic Air Command at Barksdale Air Force Base, due to the Viet Nam war. I finished school there and attended college in area colleges. I married a returning Marine in 1970. He is now a retired District Fire Chief for our neighbor river city, Shreveport, La. ...Expand for more
We have been married for 34 years! We have one daughter, who will be graduating this coming May from high school. I now teach in an elementary school in a rural area outside of Bossier City. We live on a farm of southern sorts. Definately not a midwestern version. Too many pine trees! My heart and my roots will always be in Kansas and Oklahoma where my father now lives. I spent the summer of 1965 in Ark City, and had my share of dragging main, Apco Beach, salt ponds, and last but not least the Sonic. I sometimes come back for Arkalala. Someday I will come home for good, even if it's in ash form.
