Shawn's Story
Life
Hello....... I'm still in the Olympia area. I live in Lacey and have been married for 14 years. I have an 12 year old son, who for better or worse, is very much like me.
For those of you who knew me well. My health issues that I dealt with when I was 14(end of 8th grade at Jefferson) have returned. I am doing well but have to have oxygen basicly 24/7 and am tired often. I have been told I will need a lung transplant in the future as my condition changes (if your not an organ donor, become one please).
I am retired due to my disability, My job now is trying to stay healthy and ready for transplant. My wife works at Centralia C. C. (I know I actually married some one educated. Shocked me also.....)
I lead Chronic Condition workshops with Group Health here in Olympia. The class is a 6 week program offered at group health for people with chronic conditions. Stanford University developed the material and it is a great tool for people caring for, and dealing with a health...Expand for more
issue.
I suppose I am still very much like I was in High school. I would like to think I have matured(if thats possible). My spelling still sucks and I have a hard time focusing on tasks at hand still. Anything bright and shiny still distracts me. The great thing is now that I am/we are getting older, I blame it on age. I look back and wonder what school would have been like had they discovered ADHD as well as they do now. From the few of my class mates I have run into, we all seem to have turned out fairly well and productive, even if we were'nt medicated (by doctors).
I see many names that bring back memories and it would be nice to know how many of you are doing. I definantly do not long for the days of high school, but I am finding as I get older I wonder about the people who went through that time of life with me.
I have created a website that I work on as often as I can that talks about my life and my health issues. Check it out, it is ( shawnsjourney.org ).
