Shawn's Story
Life
I am an Academic Coordinator for Upward Bound at Western Oklahoma State College. I have a Bachelor's in Psychology and I am currently working on my Master's in Behavioral Science/Psychology. I intend to move back to Texas within the next 5 years. Preferably, I will move to the Dallas/Ft Worth area. I have 4 children.
My son, Jason, is 19 and is an MP in the Army. He's currently in Iraq. He's been there since March and is not due to come home until March of 2005. He plans to attend college with his GI Bill money when he finishes his four years in the Army.
My oldest daughter, Haley, is a Sophomore at Tipton High School. She ranks first in her class and is involved in cheerleading, volleyball, basketball, softball, track and FFA. She plans to major in Pediatrics in college.
My second oldest daugter, Macey, is in the eighth grade at Tipton Junior High School. She is an A-honor roll student and is involved in volleyball, basketball, softball, speech and drama. She is leaning toward majoring in education in college, but is still undecided.
My youngest daughter, Laney, is in the fourth...Expand for more
grade. She is also an A-honor roll student. She is involved in cheer, basketball, softball and loves volleyball and drama with her sisters. Her passion is reading and writing. We are guessing that she will one day become a journalist.
My children and photography are my passions. I'm very happy with my life and I feel very blessed to have so much.
College
I graduated with a BA in Psychology from Simpson College in Redding, California.
I am currently pursuing a MS in Behavioral Science/Psychology from Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.
I aspire to one day earn a PHD in education.
Workplace
I was a computer systems administrator for five years at J&L Industrial Supply. I changed careers and went in to teaching 8th grade pre-algebra and coached girl's athletics for 2 years.
I am currently an Academic Coordinator for Upward Bound at Western Oklahoma State College.
When I finish my MS, I plan to become licensed to be a school psychologist, certified to be a school counselor and licensed as a clinical social worker. That will allow me to have a broad range of career choices.
