Sheila's Story

Life Still alive and kickin. I have a lovely son who is 13 years old. I am presently not working, per say. Between the difficulties I've run against getting my foot in the door of the industry and getting sick it was decided that I shouldn't be working. I'm a work-o-holic though and can't sit still, so I am doing the PartyLite thing until things get better with my health. Then I'll try to get a job in my desired field. I got married to a wonderful man on July 27th 2002. My husband has a son who is going to be 18 in September. (Looking forward to that) In my spare time I may sit down and write programs or work in the garden. Yes to all those who know that I despise math, Sheila can write programs. I also still use the given nick name SHE-RA. How do you hope old friends remember you? I would hope that my old friends would remember the person who was there for them and tried to help others no matter who they were. I came to Central Kitsap with my heart on my sleeve for all to see. I loved giving to others and helping others feel good about themselves. There were some pretty harsh people in our school, although they may not have realized they were being mean and hurtful to others they affected a lot of lives. I took that heart of mine and shared it with others. That is the person I would hope to be remember for. I would hope that they wouldn't remember the angry person I became towards the end of highschool who just wanted out and was just sick and tired. I felt as though I had nothing left to give and I was alone, so I pushed everyone away my Senior year left the state after graduation. I always wanted to be a Nurse or a Doctor when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were wrong. When I left the state I decided to try a couple of things and then I got into a nursing home to start my path into the medical world as a Nursing Assis...Expand for more
tant. Until 2001 I worked in a nursing home in New Mexico then moved back up to Washington due to a divorce and wanting to be closer to family. I immediately found a position in Port Orchard and jumped into a routine. After several years of working in this field and seeing things that just shouldn't happen in a nursing home I got so disgusted with people and their reasons for entering the medical field. I entered the medical field to help people. Heavens knows I didn't do it for the money I was getting. I decided that it wasn't for me, but I learned a valuable lesson about life and death that I will keep with me for the rest of my life. I went down a couple of different avenues before I made my decision but in 2000 I decided to go into computers. College Currently attending the University of Phoenix online. It's an interesting and slow process. I have a little under a year left to go. However, I feel that it may be worth it once I'm done. Now all I have to get my certs. I think with my certifications, an associates, bachelors and masters degree that is enough education for me. Workplace I'm presently just doing the PartyLite thing and being a mom. Do you have a hero? Talk about where your inspiration comes from. My Mother has got to be the greatest women on the face of this planet. Not only did she raise 6 children as a wife of a career Navy man. She endured a stroke at the age of 38 while being diagnosed with Lupus. Yet she is always there with open arms for all of her children, willing to do everything she can to help in times of need. She has taught me that you can accomplish anything if you just put your mind, heart and soul into it. My mother sacrificed a lot for the sake of her children. I believe that a parent should be willing to teach their children through example. That is why I chose to go back to school and struggle through even through the medical issues I have had.
