Sheila's Story
Life
Hi all, I was remarried on 3/17/2001. I have an absolutely WONDERFUL husband! He completely understands my disabilities and couldn't be more supportive of me.
My daughter lives with her fiance. My son lives with his father and his step-mother, Laurie Jardieu Engell, also graduates of WCS. Laurie couldn't love my kids any more than as if they were her own. John Sr. and Laurie, have done a great job raising my son. They live in Trenton Falls, north of Utica. They have a beautiful home that they put a lot of hard work into.
SCHOOL:
I went to Deerfield Elementary, then on to the Parkway, for 7th grade. Next came the Junior High, and up to the High School.
My favorite elementary teachers were Eileen Waskiewicz, Alan Tanner and John Davis.
As for high school, my favorite teachers were Mr. Countryman(art) and Peter Gazitano(English).
COLLEGE:
I had to go to HCCC and take A&P (1&2)Before I started St. Elizabeth College of Nursing in 1994. I graduated with honors two years later. I passed the NYS boards and got my l...Expand for more
icense as a RN. I immediately went on to SUNY Institute of Technology at Utica/Rome. It took me three years, to complete my bachelor's degree instead of two. I was only taking 12 credit hours per semester. Again, I graduated with honors, with a Bachelor's degree in Sociology. I am a member of The National Sociological Honor Society.
WORKPLACE:
My first Nursing position was with Oneida County Jail. It was a part time temporary position. I was helping out while they were under construction. I loved the job.
My next job was with the YWCA of Schenectady. I ran the Domestic Violence Shelter. That job was very difficult, paid very poorly as it was non-profit but was extremely rewarding. I know I made a difference in the lives of many women and children.
Somewhere in the mix of all this I worked for RCIL,(Resourse Center for Independent Living.) I had to leave this postion after 2 years due to poor health.
The computer is like my "life line." So, if you have time and care to, please drop me a note.
Thanks to everyone!
