Sheila's Story

My life story......I am the female carbon unit formerly known as Sheila Ann Phillips........Okay....so I'm going to try and write something to tell the "story of me"....thus far.... Let's see, first of all, don't laugh at all my AKA's (also known as) as I write this. My picture really doesn't belong in the Post Office...LOL. I was born in Columbus, Georgia in 1952 and went to Tillinghurst Elementary School in Columbus from 1957 through 1964. I went to Eddy Jr. High from 1964 through 1966 and spent my high school freshman year at Hardaway High in Columbus, and transferred to Eastside High in 1967, which later became Kendrick High. I graduated from Kendrick with the first graduating class from there, in 1970 and started working for the Pepsi Cola/7Up Bottling plant in Columbus as a receptionist and bookkeeper, soon thereafter. I got the job through our neighbor across the street growing up, Mr. Wilkerson, who worked there. In 1971, I married Tommy Harris, who may be known to some of you as Chris Brannon the radio personality from WDAK AM Radio in Columbus. So, I became Sheila Phillips Harris and sometimes was known as Sheila Brannon, as well. I left Pepsi in 1973, and went back to school at Meadows College of Business to get into the computer field. Seems, I hated accounting work....seems like housework, you no sooner get it done and you have to start all over. After finishing at Meadows College in 1975, I started work at Columbus Packaging in Columbus working in my first data processing job. (That's what they called IT back in the old days.) Soon I was the Data Processing Manager there and worked there until 1981. I went to work in 1981 in LaGrange, GA at Rossmark Products as their Data Processing Manager. They were once a Rubbermaid company that was sold to a private individual. I still lived in Columbus and commuted to LaGrange every day. Rossmark was plagued with financial problems so I left Rossmark in 1982 and went to work at Lummus Industries, back in Columbus as a programmer and then was promoted to their Data Processing Manager. In 1981, before I left Columbus Packaging, my first husband, Tommy and I divorced and I ran into an old classmate from my freshman year at Hardaway High, Walter Holland. Walter and I dated for a few months, bought a house together in Murray Hills in Columbus, lived together, and then married in 1982 while I was still working at Rossmark in LaGrange, so I became Sheila Phillips Holland. We got married at the Chapel at Callaway Gardens all us girls dreamed about growing up. Even so, things just didn't work out with that marriage, so we divorced in 1983. In early, 1984 the Finance Manager from Lummus where I worked, took a job in Orlando Florida at Control Laser Corporation, and he lured me to Florida to work for him. I relocated to Orlando, Florida and took the job at Control Laser in 1984 as their MIS Manager until 1988. In 1984, when I moved to Florida I met and began dating the man who was to become my third husband. William G. Rose. Bill was 11 years younger than me, so I thought.....Expand for more
...this will be fun for a while. He was 21 when we met and I was 32. And yes....I robbed the cradle...and no I didn't have to still change his diapers. He had at least out grown that stage. Bill was still a student at the University of Florida when we met, home in Daytona for the summer working before the fall semester. We dated until 1988, when we got married, and I became Sheila Phillips Rose. In 1988, I took a job as a consultant for about 6 months before I landed a job at the soon to be opened Universal Studios Florida as their Systems and Programming Manager and was responsible for all the computer systems to open the first park here in Orlando. I was later promoted to MIS Director and later took a job with Universal working on the build out of their City Walk and Islands of Adventure offerings before I left there in 1997 to become the Information Technology Manager for the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex at Cape Canaveral, Florida. I remained living in Orlando and commuted to the Cape every day. In 1998, Bill Rose and I split and were divorced in 1999. On December 31, 1999, as the millennium rolled over, I married Gary Marshall, whom I had been dating for about a year and my name became Sheila Ann Marshall. In 2000, I left the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex to become the Information Technology Manager for the City of Maitland Florida, where I was employed until May of 2007. Maitland is a small city on the North side of Orlando, only 12 miles from where I lived in Orlando. Yes, I worked at City Hall...and yes you can fight it....the Maitland residents did on a regular basis....LOL. I separated from Gary Marshall in 2003, after quite a few rocky years and repeated trial separations and finally was divorced from him in 2004. That relationship is a long story....so I won't waste the screen time here with all the details¿ Let's just say that regardless of all the above,¿I'm still my same playful old self, full of life and fun and whatever the day brings. And to borrow phases from the TV show Grey's Anatomy.....I'm neither scary and damaged nor dark and twisty in spite of it all...LOL.. I'm the same Sheila I've always have been, although the last name has changed a few times to protect the innocent!!! As one of the Gabor sisters said, "Marriage is too interesting an experiment to be tried only once." Besides, the "catch and release" program is less painful to both parties....and each gets to continue on with life and keep trying and hopefully improving again and again..... I married my pre-high school sweetheart, Walt Hingerty on February 26, 2007, and moved to Colonial Heights, Virginia to be with him. I took a year off work when I moved to Virginia and in May of 2008, began work as a Solutions Engineering Planner at Capital One in Richmond, under contract through Staff Focus Consulting. All is great here in Virginia, as 2010 is well underway. Walt and I have been married three years now, and I'm settling into Virginia's colder climate after 23 years in Florida. Much love to everyone!!!! Sheila
