Sheila's Story
I never know how to begin these things, so I'll start with what I did after high school. I moved to Seattle and went to college, graduating from the University of Washington with a degree in English. I was planning on going into teaching but after doing some student teaching with 7th & 8th graders, I decided it wasn't the right career for me. They had too much energy and far too many raging hormones. By the end of the day I just wanted to pop them upside the head...which really isn't the right mentality for a teacher! So I bagged that idea. I was married and divorced by 23 (I know that's young), and ended up moving back to White Salmon in 1993, where I've been since. I've worked for WA State Employment Security Dept. for 13 of the last 15 years. I work mostly with folks who are on Unemployment or Welfare. nd I get to use some of my strengths, such as organization, program management, writing and people skills.
I am married (again) to a great, funny guy. We don't have any children but we have one big dog, Brutus, who is pretty spoiled (he even sleeps in the bed!). I also have 2 nieces whom I adore and love spending time with...but they're teenagers now and Aunt Sheila isn't as popular as she used to be. Even so, I get to see them occasionally. We travel together and go to the movies and sporting events. Speaking of travelling, it's my new favorite hobby. So far I've visited Paris, Italy, Mexico, and just got back from New York. With a little luck, I'll be going back to Europe next summer. Looking forward to that! Other than working and travelling, I spend my time golfing, reading, scrapbooking and with my family & friends. And that's my life in a nut-shell.
