s (Hebrew school executive, United Jewish Appeal, Jewish Community Council, Agudath Israel Congregation), Camp Gesher, teaching Hebrew to adult women who were unable to go to Hebrew school when they were young.
One of the first things Shirley did when we came to Ottawa was to organize a teenage Habonim group, several of whose members now live in Israel. Shirley was involved with the Ottawa Jewish Historical Society, became an archivist and worked for the National Archives. She was instrumental in the founding of the Ottawa Jewish Archives and became its first archivist.
Both of us were key advocates in discussions which resulted in the transformation of Dror Camp Gesher to a joint Dror-Habonim Camp. Our children were amongst the first Ottawa campers.
