Shelley's Story
Life
I attended college at Eastern Washington University and the University of Mexico in Mexico City after graduating from Cheney High School. I earned a B.A. in Spanish from Eastern in 1990.
After graduation, I went to work for the U.S. Office of Federal Investigations (stationed in Kennewick, then Seattle) as a background investigator. I attended training in Washington, D.C. and conducted special investigations in California, Idaho as well as Washington. I met my future husband through this agency. He was also an investigator. After leaving the Office of Federal Investigations due to a nationwide reduction in force, I went to work for State Farm, until my daughter, Megan, was born. When Megan was born, I decided to be a stay-at-home mom until she started school. (That's the hardest job I've ever had -- but the most rewarding!!!) In 1997, my husband took a job with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security/U.S. Customs & Border Protection in Great Falls, Montana. I took an exciting fast-paced job with the Great Falls Symphony as an administrator. I assist the executive director with booking artists such as Yo Yo Ma, Itzhak Perlman and a variety of Broadway shows. I also assist a 70+ piece orchestra, an 80 voice symphonic choir, a woodwind trio and string ...Expand for more
quartet. If you may recall, I was a band member (flute & piccolo) and accompanied the choir occasionally. Though I no longer perform, I'm back to my first love -- music and the arts.
My family and I enjoy camping. We live near beautiful mountains, rivers and lakes. My parents (both very ill) moved to Great Falls and I spend my spare time caring for them. Because of my profession, my husband and I attend numerous concerts and Broadway shows each year.
I would love to hear from any of my former (notice I didn't say old?) classmates. Please feel free to write or e-mail.
College
I attended EWU from 1986 to 1988. From 1988 to 1989 I attended the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM)in Mexico City on a scholarship from Rotary International. I returned to EWU and graduated with a B.A. in Spanish in 1990. Que bueno!
Workplace
I worked for the Feds as an investigator for a few years, then took a break to raise my daughter, Megan. I recently went back to work and am now employed by the Great Falls Symphony. In the short time I've worked for the Symphony, I've had a blast meeting celebs and attending concerts and Broadway productions. My latest encounters with celebs included Yo-Yo Ma and Itzhak Perlman. What incredibly talented people they are!!!
