Classmates.com Update - March 2007
As of this writing, I've been married to Greg James for 12+ years and we have two young boys, Jeremy, 5, and Logan 3.5. We live in Worcester County, MA, 30 miles west of Boston in a New England farmhouse that we update periodically. We also have a Norwegian Elkhound named Chaz, who is 10 and still acts like a puppy.
Since leaving Saranac in 1987, I attended SUNY Plattsburgh and graduated w/ a BA in Canadian Studies/French. Then I moved to France and got my MA in French literature through Bowling Green State Univeristy in Ohio. In 1993, I started working a week after graduating from Bowling Green as Director of the Vermont/Canada Trade office in Burlington, VT. In 1995, I landed a job as Event Marketing Director for Cabletron Systems, a billion dollar high tech infrastructure company based in the Portsmouth, NH area. In 1999, I left Cabletron and Greg and I moved to Massachusetts, where I worked for CIO magazine as Event Marketing Director for 6 years. In 2005 I transferred to our sister research firm IDC, and am...Expand for more
now Marketing Director of our Industry Insights division, specializing in the energy sector (yes, a far cry from French Literature!).
And while the corporate world pays well, I'm looking forward to leaving it eventually and pursuing my dream of becoming a writer.
Life has been good, for the most part, although my family and I suffered a pretty devastating blow when my brother, Jeremy Baughn, was killed in 1994 by a drunk driver. Also, my grandfather just passed on Christmas Day of 2006 at the age of 94. He was the single most influential figure in my life, so it was hard, despite his ripe old age.
I keep in touch with Missy Cadieux and Katie Vorabetz on a regular basis, and sporadically hear from Carrie Carnright and Teddy Wood.
I'm still playing my flute, and belong to a flute choir at my church. Greg and I are very active in our church community, and our boys attend Sunday school and sing in the children's choir. They're in preschool and kindergarten and delight (and frustrate) us in many different ways. We wouldn't trade them for the world!
