Shelly's Story
Life
I am a stay at home mom with 3 beautiful children an
10yr old daughter named Racquel, and twin boys almost 7 Ryan and Rece...boy do they keep me busy. I have been married to my best friend Jason Wilkins who grew up in El Sobrante with me. Unfortunately I lost him in a fireworks accident
July 4th weekend in 2005. For the past 3 years I have been living with that wonderfuly title of "WIDOW" and it has easily been thge worst years of my life. We live in Livermore, my kids all play sports: Racquel is a left handed fastpitch softball pitcher and 1st baseperson and my boys who live for baseball (which is played in my backyard EVERY day in full uniform) also play firstbase as well as 3rd (especially when the other is playing 1st a/c that throw to hard for the others on the team to catch on their Tball team). We all continue the family tradition that Jason and I started which is bowling at our local bowling center and I must say they all take after their dad and have perfect bowling form. Racquel was just asked to bowl for the Granada Bowl Travel team so she will begin that and work around softball season.

onestly don't know what I would have done without the former owners and all the kids employed at the bowl when we lost Jason....they really showed us we were care about and continue to give me support (the kids' that babysit you ROCK). It's still kind a creepy when people talk to you on the street downtown or somewhere and they are "Oh I know who you are" of when I have had to call 911 and thel local police department employees know EXACTLY who you are....my son called 911 one night without me knowing and instead of just 1 officier I had 3 standing in my front room, when I asked why so many the said it was because the knew the address and name and wanted to make sure all was ok.
Since Jason's accident Livermore has made it a crime to have ANY fireworks I just hope more cities take their lead and continue this on going fight for me. The thought of children's sports team benefiting from something that killed my husband makes me sick and I will work to make sure it ends at some point.
