Shelly's Story
Mike Ellingson -- a '68 Sealth grad -- and I were married in '75. We lived in West Seattle briefly, then moved to Federal Way, then Gig Harbor. We have two children: Jessica and Joe. Both are college grads, wonderful parents -- we're very proud of them! We also have two beautiful grand-daughters. We divorced after 12 years, but still stay in touch regarding the kids or grand-kids and occasionally see each other at family events.
I bought a 5-acre home in Oregon on the Calapooia River 21 years ago. I like to garden, paint, cook... but I STILL love horses and now have two! I ride my big blonde, and drive my mare (yes, she pulls my carriage). I also have three Rat Terriers, some French Maran chickens, a pond with fish and a turtle, and transient barn cats.
I've worked at a college for 23 years -- I manage/admin large messaging <email> and cyber-security systems. I do some volunteer graphic artwork, as well. I don't see myself retiring for a couple more years, but I have lots of time off, so it's a good balance. I finally finished a Science degree in my 40's. Imagine... me with a 3.9 GPA!
When I'm not at work, I try to ride a lot (great exercise). I also have a Harley Sportster 883 tha...Expand for more
t I've put about 10k miles on. One of my bucket-list items is to finish a 3-Day Event. Tango -- my "big" horse -- and I are almost there! (Update: accomplished June, 2012). I've also entered Tia -- my little gray mare -- in a couple "Combined Driving Events". THOSE are a lot of fun! I do a lot of trail riding, too. I just bought a 25' power boat and I'm refitting/upgrading it for my next buck-list item: Anacortes to Ketchikan and back on the inside passage. Let's catch up - shelly0214 at <either the y place or the g place>.
I enjoy the company of a charming, handsome, competent "significant other", Rick, who also has two children and three grand-children (not to mention a beautiful horse). We enjoy dining out, trail riding out the back gate, or taking the horses and dogs camping near Sisters or Bend for a weekend. We're usually found at home, tho, working on some project.
I spend roughly four weekends a year in Seattle and would love to reconnect with old school chums over coffee! Email me -- let's make it happen! :)
There you have it, the short story! In all, life is great -- one big exciting adventure. I am blessed beyond measure. :)
With warmest regards to you all....
