Sheri's Story
Life
I moved to MWC in '64 from Riverbank,CA. My family lived there in the summer and a small town in SE OK called Milburn in winter. Johnston Co. is where both sides of my family are from for several generations. They got tired of the traveling back & forth & needed good jobs where they could make better money. So, I transferred to Soldier Creek Elem School in Kindergarten from Calf. They have different laws on Birthdate cutoofs than OK. I could finish the school year in K at Soldier Creek, but would have to go to K again the following year because of the cutoff here in OK and so I did!
I attended K (twice)-6th gr at Soldier Creek where I played all girls sports. I also played for independant Basketball & Softball teams and Y-teams from 4th-6th gr. The summer after 6th gr I was recruted as starting catcher to be on a softball team from Moore. We went & took Natls in Penn. that year. That was very exciting & a good expierence!
I then went to CAJH in the 7th & 8th gr. I continued being involved in school & independant sports during those yrs. My activities I was involved in were Student Council Member,an Office Aid, in FHA,Pep Club, Natl & St Honor Society w/4.0, to mention a few. There I met the cutiest guy, my future Husband-
Troy Dale Dooley.
The summer after my 8th gr yr, my parents told us we were moving back to that little town-Milburn. I went to Milburn High School 9th-12th gr. This was a very small school where the students had known each other since birth! Very seldom did new people come & it was hard for them to let you into their click! It took me a year for them to get use to me & me to adjust to them & the small school. Also, I was away from Troy, so until he came on the weekends, I had to stay busy. I was involved in everything I could that they offered! All 3 yrs I was in 4-H, FHA (Pres. Sr yr), Choir,Student Council (V-Pres. Soph & Sr yr), Cheerleader (Head-Sr yr), Art Club, Speech/Drama Club, Interscholastic Meets, Yearbook Staff/Newspaper (Co-Editor Sr yr), Journalism ...Expand for more
Club, Head Start Aid, Office Aid/Accounting Club, Natl & St Honor Society-Superintendent/Principals Honor Society w/4.0 GPA, Sr Class V-Pres, Who's Who in Art/Poetry Writers-Sr Yr, very involved in Medical Explorers and independant Softball teams.
Troy & I wanted to get married and the only way my parents would allow it, was for me to graduate. Following my 10th gr yr, I took 2 correspondent courses thru OSU & took 6 full hrs my Sr yr, so I skipped my 11th gr yr. We got married 3 days after Troy graduated on 5-27-78.
We lived 1-1/2 yrs in Newalla. We had our oldest son 1yr & 3 days after getting married. Our youngest son came 5 yrs later '84 after we bought our 1st home in MWC.
I went to work at Boyd Chev in Nov.'78 til Jan. '89. I worked my way up from Head Cashier to Office Mgr/Comptroller. I went to Joe Coker Pont in Jan '89 til my severe accident in Jan '90. I had 6 back/1 neck surgeries. I am fused 3 levels in low Lumbar & 5 levels in upper Cervical. I have other diabilities & diseases called RSD & Fibromyalgia.
We moved to Harrah in Oct '95 from our 2nd home in MWC.
We built our house on 10 acres off Harrah Rd. in '99. Both our boys graduated with honors from Harrah High School. Then they attended college: TW at Rose & OSU. DB went to UCO in Edmond.
Our oldest son, Troy Wayne is 28, divorced, & has 2 daughters; Jordyn Lee-4, & Emma Grace-2 yr old as of 4-10-08. He owns a home 1 mile from us in Harrah.
Dustin Blaine, 24, is our youngest & got married 8/4/06. His wife Tammy & he live in Midwest City.
Troy & I are about to celebrate our 30th Anniv May 27, 1978! (Mr Issac said it would not last! It was only puppy love!). We own our Buss:Troy Dooley Ins. Agency. We are very involved in church at FBC Harrah, where Troy is a Deacon & plays guitar in the Praise Band. We ride a Harley & witness to Bikers thru--Christian MtrCycle Assoc. Troy has been Pres of our chapter for 6 yrs. I am this years current Treasurer & have been Historian for 6 yrs.
