Sheri's Story
Life
It's amazing how many directions life takes you before you finally settle into who you are. Right after high school, I started SPC and did that for two years. Got tired of that and joined the Army. Did that for 8 years. This, of course, was in the mid 80s and every time I tried to do something new, Uncle Sam showed me it was a "man's" Army.
Eventually, I graduated (cum laude) from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, TX. During that time, I got married to Larry. We have one daughter who has given us a BEAUTIFUL granddaughter (Hailey Brook) who will be a year old in April. To say we spoil her is an understatement.!!
Larry works for an oil company and I am an ESL kindergarten teacher in Seagraves. I love it here...small town and all.
I am also an Area Representative for an exchange student program called Youth for Understanding. I absolutely love it. We have also hosted students from many different countries. We have a great time doing this...Expand for more
. It is fun to watch them experience things for the first time and rewarding watching them grow. I've even come across people I went to school with who are hosting a student.
Eventually, Larry and I are going to travel and visit some of them. This could take us to Germany, France, Shanghai, Argentina, Switzerland, Brazil,Japan,Thiland and even Mexico. I look forward to seeing all of them again. Uta came back to visit and brought her entire family. It was so much fun and they really enjoyed meeting people Uta knew and seeing where she spent a year of her life. Katie came back last summer and spent a month with us. It was fantastic ans she spoiled her new niece. It's hard sending them back to their home. Larry and I have been chaperones on trips to Hawaii (10 wonderful days in the sun) and NY, Washington DC. We have had a blast.
