Sherri's Story

Life Graduated in May '79, got a job and moved out pretty quickly from my parents. Not because I wouldn't of stayed with them awhile but they were moving to Denton, Texas since my dad had taken a transfer with his job. I did NOT want to go to Denton so I stayed in Houston. After three years of being in Houston without any family around I decided that maybe Denton wasn't so bad after all and moved up there. Got a job with Denton County in Sept '82 and still work there. I have been married... a few times.. but currently am single but in a "committed" relationship and really do not see any reason to get married again. I have one son - Matthew - who graduated high school this year (2006) and has moved out for school/work so I moved in with my guy. He has a 12 year old daughter with a mother that I am convinced is a witch from hell but other than that my personal life is great. My guys name is Terry and he works for DeWalt which sponsors a Nextel Cup car so we have become hugh NASCAR fans. I would love to travel to different tracks to see some races but scheduling is a bit of a problem with our jobs right now. My job - the office I went to work for Denton County was under a county-wide elected official. After several promotions...Expand for more
and working under a few different elected folks I was as far as I could go in that office unless I ran for it myself. So I did (conservative Republican) and took office in January 1999. I was unopposed this last March and do not have an opponent in the general election coming up so I will start my 3rd term Jan. 2007. If I can hang in there for a few more 4-year terms I'll get to retire in pretty good shape. I want to retire early enough to do a little traveling -- visit the Cayman Islands again, snow-ski in Europe, car tour New England, take a Alaskan cruise (might do that earlier, I'm really feeling the itch to do that now) -- those kind of things. I have been extremely lucky and blessed over the years - my son is a great kid, never any trouble with drugs or crime and fairly bright; both of my parents are still alive, doing well and live pretty close by. My brother Scott Bell (for those who knew him) joined the Navy in the nuclear power program shortly after he graduated high school in 1977. He was in for 6 years, left and went to work at the nuclear power plant near Phoenix, AZ and still works there. I love to hear from some of you so please shoot me email sometime. Hope to hear from y'all! Sherri (Bell) Adelstein
