Sherri's Story
Life
I have a wonderful 14-year-old son, 2 cats, and a great career, excellent health...what more could one ask for?
It's amazing how fast time goes... how much people and things change...and how much nothing changes at all.
I hope everyone is well!
School
High School was a bitter/sweet experience for me. While academically I did great, emotionally it was very difficult. I lived in a foster home and pretended my life was perfect while secretly dealing with the pain of losing a mother at 12 and having a father that abandoned me. I enjoyed my classmates and friends. I didn't really recall having particular crushes. The teacher that inspired me most was a woman that I didn't even have as a teacher. She was my 7th grade homeroom teacher first. It had only been a few months since losing my own mother. She mostly just befriended me and was very kind. She invested in me in her own way. She then became a teacher at MHS. ould have gone about a certain relationship differently too. While I saw him as a soul-friend that I didn't want to lose, I also felt that I didn't deserve him. He made me feel like a queen, but I simply had too much emotional baggage to give him back what he deserved. But, life changes you and if you seek it, there is healing, and you can be whole. You can give love and RECEIVE love. I have wondered over the years if I would ever meet someone like him. I haven't yet. I guess there are people that are truely one-of-a kind. I have always carried our friendship in my heart though and now, I know that he has had, and has a wonderful life. That makes me feel happy. You never know what life is going to bring. It's an adventure and I am grateful for what I have. And now, working in a HS myself, I do all that I can to give students something, if only in kindness and encouragement, to make the most of their education and their life.
