Sherrie's Story
After high school I entered the nursing program at JC but discoverd sociology and changed my major. Received my BA from USF in Tampa in 1970. College morphed me into an activist, independent woman so I concentrated on my career and travel until I decided I had done almost everything I wanted to do and finally got married at age 38. Still married to the same man. I worked for 18 years for the State Of Fla. as a social worker and social work manager. Stopped working for several years to care for my aging parents. e non profit agency as Housing Director, operating programs for homeless families and people with AIDS. I found this to be the most rewarding work of my life and miss it terribly after having to retire in 2005 due to chronic health problems. I am concentrating on trying to reduce and improve my phisical limitations. My life is no longer the stress inducing pressure cooker working environment I got accustomed to but I enjoy working from home on social/political issues that I care about. Life has changed for me but it is still good and full of possibilities.
