Sherry's Story

After high school, I got married and started a family, had a girl, then 3 & 1/2 years later had a boy. I spent my time raising the kids and working as a 3yr old teacher (got my teaching certificate at Northeast, during 11th & 12 grade w/ Mrs. Pasiglia--the best teacher EVER!!) The marriage lasted 5 years (various reasons, mostly married too young). Later I met and married my current husband of 22 yrs. He is from Thailand. We have a daughter together. While he worked primarily in our restaurant in FT. Lauderdale (Sukhothai, off of Sunrise Blvd), I worked for the Sheriff's office (BSO). After 8 yrs there, I left and soon moved to Ocala, FL. We opened another Thai restaurant in Ocala, it has been open for 7 yrs. After 12 years at the Laud restaurant, we sold it, and have now, just this one in Ocala. We both work long hours & most holidays, the restaurant business is hard, but it is great having our own business. My oldest daughter is a speech language therapist and is finishing her last semester for her masters at FL State. She and her husband have a little boy who is 4yrs old. My son is a graphic designer, married and has a little boy who is also 4y...Expand for more
rs old. I love being a grandma!! My youngest daughter goes to the community college here in Ocala, she wants to go into the psychology field, she also works with us part time at the restaurant. We live in the country on a small farm with our horses, chickens, geese, 3 dogs, & 2 cats. We love our place, it's very peaceful and private after a long day at work. Being a mother and now a grandma is and has been one of the best things ever to have happened. I'm very lucky, my kids are healthy, happy, great kids. The grands are the light of my life. It's funny how life turns out, isn't it? In high school everything seemed SO crucial-- which boy will like me, who's fighting with who this week, which girlfriend isn't speaking right now, did I get my homework done, everything felt so awkward, I always felt out of place, like I didn't belong, but all the things we worried about in high school are just a miniscule drop in the whole scope of life, like just a blink of an eye in the timeline, but was so important back then. I've think what's truly important in life--God,family, true friends, health, happiness, love. I thank God everyday for all my blessings.
