Sherry Messimer:  

I am a 55 year old grandmother now, with 3 kids of my own and 1 step-son. My husband and I live alone now, all of our kids are grown and married. My maiden name is Sherry Chappell. After graduation from MSJ back in 1973 I went to Cal State Hayward for just one semester. I droped out, went to a business college to become a Medical Assistant. Graduated 1974 and looked for work everywhere. I even moved to Texas to look for work. Became a Lab Assistant and drew bloods, picked them up at Doctor's Offices, back when my car was a 1973 Ford Pinto. I had a CB and was called "Pronto Pinto" I became homesick for California and moved back to the Bay Area, applied for miltary service, but instead of going into the military, I met my first husband, Frank Courade. We met at our 5 year MSJ High School Reunion. Do any of you remember the 1978 reunion? Well Frank also graduated from MSJ in 73 and we never met in high school, only at the 5 year reunion. We dated and after only 2 weeks, he proposed, I excepted and 3 months later on Dec. 30th of 1978, we were married. Nine months and 3 days after our wedding, my first baby was born! Rebecca Courade, now Rebecca DeFosset born 1979. I remained a housewife and mother for 6 years, and in that 6 years I had 3 babies! Michael Courade born 1982 and Daniel Courade born 1985. We all were pretty poor so I went back to work after Daniel was 6 months old, Michael 3 yrs and Becky 5 yrs old. I worked in San Mateo and the 3 kids and me car pooled over the bridge every work day. They were in a pre-school/ kindergarten over in San Mateo. Unfortunately our happiness faded when Frank decided to have an affair with our babysitter who lived accross the street from us at the time. We divorced when our kids were only 3, 6 and 9. I moved to East Texas, where my mom lived and my mom was great! She helped me go back to college and become a nurse!
