Sherry's Story
Time for an update. Three weeks ago, my youngest sister, Sheila, lost her courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Having worked with people living with AIDS for many years, and as a minister's wife, I thought I understood the whole greiving process...but I have to say I didn't have a clue. I live in rural, southern Illinois with my husband of 32 years, Kevin. I am an RN and work as the Compliance Officer at a 3-county wide health department. Policies and procedures, accreditation and Medicare/Medicaid fraud and abuse investigations along with quality assurance...it doesn't get any better than that. LOL! Seriously, I do love my job! I am now the grandmother of 4 of the most beautiful babies that have ever been born!!! What's that saying..."every old crow thinks hers are the blackest." llian, lives just a few miles from Mom and Dad in a secluded area deep in the woods of southern Illinois. It is just breathtaking out there. Jill has Allen, 8 year old boy wonder and Ava, 2 years old, AKA Toddler Tina. We need no entertainment with the team of toddlers around...they just keep us in stitches. They wrestle around like two little puppies, and that's what I collectively refer to them as, The Puppies. Kevin is the pastor of two little country churches and he is the owner/operator of Peyton Automive Repair. It is a very busy, full life. And before the death of my sister, I was completely happy. Thanksgiving was hard this year...so soon after her death. Then her birthday is in less than 2 weeks, and then we have Christmas to get through. I have been very blessed with my family and the best friends in the world! I do miss my hometown and my old friends and I think of you all often and wonder what paths everyone has traveled. I look forward to hearing from old friends!
