Shari's Story
School
I moved into the Lakeshore district at 14 yrs old going into the 10th grade. I hated moving, I had lived by North Clayton from 1 yr to 14 yr and didn't want to leave my friends and neighbors. I had been involved in cheerleading, basketball, track, band, chorus, drama and other clubs at North Clayton so it was like a new world to move to LHS and be "unknown" and never really feeling like a part of the "inner circle". Also, Lakeshore was on a split session with MD Collins when I started, so we all left mid-day and there was not the after school activities to which I had enjoyed and been active at NCHS ... so, it was hard.
HOWEVER, I believe the situation helped me develop as a person and now many years later I still draw on the skills I learned by changing high schools. I find it easy to meet new people as that High School experience forced me to be the first to talk and get out of my comfort zone and shyness. I did meet some won...Expand for more
derful people at LHS and had some great experiences in the 3 years that I attended.
I am proud to have attended and graduated from Lakeshore. I believe it was an exceptional high school. I helped with the Grand Reunion committee and enjoy staying in touch with classmates that I had not seen in many years.
College
College was great for me. Even though I think it would have been great to go away to college, I'm just grateful I was able to get an education. I never had to study much in high school, however, I remember studying a lot in college. My major accomplishments were making dean's list and serving on student government. I have great memories and it was a good time in my life.
After getting my AA from Clayton Jr. College, I began to work full-time and attend classes part-time at Georgia State University. I majored in Marketing and I believe my heart has always been in Marketing and Sales as it relates to all industries.
