Sherry's Story
My family lived in the middle of town, Gotcher Lane, the little road running from Main Street to the Vanderhoof ranch on Hundley Drive. When I graduated, Kelly and I spent a wild summer renting a tiny hut in Shady Shores. Wild times. Good times. I have all kinds of good feelings about our home town and the people we knew there. I still keep connections from those days, much as I can.
I married Rick Miller in ...1977? Rick's smart, funny, a charming city guy with no small town links. Lucky for me, he appreciates my hometown stories and friends. We moved around the city for years, enjoyed it a lot. North Dallas, Old East Dallas, Oak Cliff. My parents, Jack and Fanny, both died in 2009. They're buried in Swisher Cemetery, the old graveyard on Shady Shores Road. My brothers and sister are raising families and doing well, spread out across various Texas towns.
trying to think of ways to describe myself now...I'm a personal property appraiser and antique trader. I love auctions, but II am struggling to keep a more balanced life. So I bought myself this cheap kayak and paddle it around on the lake. Messing with stuff and chasing the cranes and the fish. Despite the fact that I love my life, I suspect it bores other people. I think of myself as very conventional. My family and friends say I'm wrong about that. What does that mean?!!
