Sheryl's Story
Hi all,
I know you, because you are alumni from Northwest Elementary School, Woodrow Wilson Grade School, Apollo Junior High, Maine North High School (or Maine East), or Goodrich High School. I lived in Connecticut from age one until age seven, going to Northwest Elementary School for kindergarten and first grade (some very fond memories). However, I spent the majority of my growing-up years in suburban Chicago (going to Wilson, Apollo, and Maine North) from age 7 until age16. Then we moved to Wisconsin at the same time that Maine North closed in 1981. (If we hadn't moved, I would have gone to Maine East, where most of my friends ended up going.) My dad got a job transfer to Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. So that is where I went to school for junior and senior years of high school. Although I was sad to leave, it surprisingly ended up being a great two years. I then went to UW-Madison for college, but came back "home" to University of Chicago for med school, Northwe...Expand for more
stern for intership, and Cook County Hospital for dermatology residency.
Now I am even closer to "home", living in Northbrook. My three kids are at Glenbrook North High School.
I work part-time as a dermatologist, and the rest of the time, I am busy with my husband and three kids (two girls, ages 15 and 16, and a boy, age 17).
I was just feeling nostalgic with my kids in high school, and that's when I found this website. ("Everyone knows about it, Mom," says my son.) I think that's truly been the only bad thing about my moving at age 16. I don't really have a high school to connect with as mine - the high school I went to with the kids I grew up with closed and the high school I graduated is one I went to for only two years. Oh, well! My time at both of those schools (or any of the schools I went to) was wonderful. So I shouldn't complain. I certainly enjoyed catching up with the classmates who are on this website! Hope everyone has found happiness!
