Sheryl's Story

Hmmm.... Story... Well, Once upon a time... Nope, won't go there. Freshman year I attended 3 different High Schools, and ended up at Pinole Valley HS (Mt. Diablo & Harry Ells the other two). I only remember the name of one teacher during the 2yrs (?) I was at PVHS... Traumatic Memory Loss. Anyway, her name was Dr. Isabel Miller, and she taught Business stuff, like typing and shorthand (yes they taught that hehe) btw: It is HIGHLY possible that I've signed into the wrong class year... It could be either 1976 or 1977. If someone knows better... PLEASE let me know. Summer between Freshman & Sophmore year I volunteered to work in the School Office. At the end of the summer the ladies I had worked with gave me a Gold Rose that was filled with Rose perfumed Gel. Still have the container. I was in Stage Craft (Do they still teach that?) Only memories: we did some stuff for some young kids, and we made double story flats for a play. I played flute in the Band, and Marching Band. Remember going to a Band Fest and that the teacher taught us a few measures of a piece of really HARD music to "scare" a collegue. I was in the Acapella Choir... Actually remember the audition, but not the teacher's name. I left school just before the Choir was supposed to do something on TV. Anyone remember this???? I don't have a Year Book... My "ugly" step-mom destroyed anything I had from those years, and like I said, my memory of that time is pretty vague. I have images of things, and memories of people, just not names. Anyone recall the name of the Drum Major (Student Marching Band Leader) from 1973 or 1974? Very tall guy. That's about it for HS... Left the area in April 1977. I joined the Army so that I could get away, and to get enough money to go to college without student loans. Met my Husband, of 30+ yrs, while in the Army. After following him around the ...Expand for more
world for a while... I did manage to go to college and get my Degree in Nursing. My friends at the time even threw me a Prom because I had missed mine in HS. They arranged for a photographer, and so I even had "senior" pictures taken. ; ) Not the same, but it was very sweet. Husband retired from the military in July 1998 and we've been in Colorado Springs since. Story Wizard How do I hope old friends will remember me? Hell, I don't care if you thought I was fat, a nerd, or anything... If you remember me... Please let me know. I always wanted to be a Nurse when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a Good idea. As it turns out, they were right. I blow off steam with a cup of tea & a good book. Wildest thing I ever did in school? I don't remember... You guys tell me. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Isabel Miller, because she helped me get away from a very bad place in my life.. Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. What's been your biggest surprise? That the saying, "What doesn't kill you, only makes you stronger" is really true If I won $100 million, I'd give $25 Million of it to Lion's Gate Children's shelter in Martinez, Cal, then spend the rest on a new house , TRAVEL and TRAVEL. What happened to your first crush? I don't know... He was PVHS... hehe You get one do-over. What do you do differently? I try harder to get my "ugly" step-mom out of the house. What about you would surprise everyone at your high school reunion? That I'd attend one... That I'd know which year to attend in the first place. My first job was at a construction site, where I got paid $2/hr to scrape off stucco inside the house, peel off labels from appliances, and vacume floors. What I remember most about it is how pretty the model homes were.
