Sheryle's Story
Life
I found my home in L.A. again after leaving Oroville. Rochelle Anderson and I kept in touch during the years until her untimely death. I miss her still. In my early (single) years I was lucky enough to purchase my first home ('79) In '81 I sold it to help pay for the honeymoon which(sorry to say)lasted only 5yrs.,BUT I had 2 beautiful girls I simply adore(still). Their father and I had a very amicable divorce,remaining friends and raising the girls jointly(2wks on 2wks off) living within a few miles of each other. In '92 I remarried and am happy to say that the cinderella shoe still fits. We live in Sierra Madre,CA.and have another home in Mammoth CA which we 'escape' LA to every 2wks. My husband,Wes,retired at age 54 which also allowed me to either continue working or merely play. Needless to say I opted for the latter. We enjoy showing our vintage cars. Wes' is a 1934 Ford Phaeton and mine is a 1954Ford F100 p-up. Audralyn(my 19yr.old) followed our lead and has a 65Mustang GT. But now with college and working she has limited time for showing. Leanne(my 16yr.old) has her permit so far but she wants something more reliable and that she won't mind as much scratching. OK, denting. When I'm not playing with my girls or Wes you'll find me out on my bike early in the AM before the sun heats up. On Thurs.&Sundays I'm in the church choir. School
Gosh, I really had no interest in school. I was one of those kids who already knew everything. Sorry to say, I had no respect for my parents subsequently none for any other adult. Well, except for my grandmother. Vicariously, through my children, I've learned a great deal more. Plus, it's been more interesting. You know, your children think you already know the answers to everything since you've already been through school. So being the one NOT to shatter that image, I studied along with them. I just was faster to understand things now. Funny how we all have different ways of learning.
Workplace
Left home at the age of 17, continued Oro.Hi but worked at the Medical Center to pay rent. I was finally on my own. An emancipated minor. Graduated, stayed on at the Med.Center for a couple o' more years then moved back to the BIG city. L.A. Got a job at a VW dealership in Santa Monica. Made a home for myself for about 5 or 6 yrs. before moving out to the Pasadena area. A victim of traffic, I decided to find work closer to home. Honda of Pasadena took me under their wing,starting as a cashier(and a newlywed) Then putting together a car rental dept. for the service dept. Between babies, somhow I work up to Adm. Secty. to the GM. Sadly and happily through divorces I married the owner, he sold the business and we live happily ever-now.
