After graduation from Lynbrook High School, I attended UC Santa Cruz and received a B.A. in Psychology. In 1991 I married Tony Galyan (Lynbrook, 1986) and legally changed my first name to Sheyna. I graduated in 1993 from San Jose State with a counseling degree and moved to Minnesota in 1993 where I worked in the mental health field with a specialty in adult survivors of trauma. I also lectured and wrote on mental health issues, and later worked as a journalist for a local paper.
In 1995 I fulfilled a lifelong dream and converted to Judaism, and spent six years working in Jewish education as a teacher for grades K-7. I did graduate work at the University of Minnesota in Elementary Education and finished in 2000.
I launched Yotzeret Publishing (formerly Yal...Expand for more
dah Publishing), a small independent publishing company, in 2002. To date, I've published eight titles by seven different authors, and have four more in production.
For my own books, my first Jewish suspense novel, "Destined to Choose: A Rabbi David Cohen Novel" was first published in 2003 and then re-released as a new edition in 2013 (available through any bookseller or online retailer) and my second in the series, "Strength to Stand" was released to outstanding reviews in September 2015. My third book in the series, "No One to Fear" will likely be out early 2017.
I'm on the board of our local chapter of Sisters in Crime and a member of Mystery Writers of America, and I've been doing speaking events since September 2015.
Tony and I make our home in St. Paul, Minnesota with one dog, three cats, one bird, and our two boys: Yoni, currently age 15, and Danny, almost age 13 (March). Our daughter, Simcha, was stillborn on May 19, 2007. May her memory be for a blessing.
