Shirley's Story
Life
No Kids, No Husband, No boyfriend. Just purchased a home in the city. Life is grand.
School
Every one knows that Vernell Harris was my biggest crush from 1st thru 8th grade.
My biggest ego booster was being placed front row center each year, for the class dances during the annual St. Carthage "Play." (3 nights a year at Hamilton Park Field House)
Mrs. Rita Green Morgan, the dance instructor, helped instill a confidence in me that others envy to this day.
College
I had 2 memorable roommates in college. First, there was Julia, who I am still friends with today, and the other was Carla. I only lived in the dorms during my 3rd year of undergrad and Carla was my roommate at the time. She was from a small city in southern IL and was of a different ethnicity. efused to fall backwards into the hands of my classmates (whom I didn't know) from a 9-12 foot platform. I didn't trust them to catch me then, and probably still wouldn't trust them to catch me today.
I enjoyed every minute that I spent at U of I. New experiences, new people, road trips, working at Papa Dels, failing the one and only course I ever failed in my life, partying, and finally, earning my degrees.
I wouldn't change a thing!
Workplace
Since High School, I knew my career would lead me in the direction of marketing. I worked for a variety of companies, in positions which had an emphasis on marketing research. I think the study of consumers, and why the do the things they do, is very intriguing.
I am currently working at the 2nd largest beverage company in world. Haven't quite made it to the Consumer Insights/Marketing Research area, but working to get there.
