Shirley's Story
Hi,
Thank you for allowing me to share my brief story.
I left Lucy Flowers High School with Carolyn Burton and Sandra Dawson to attend Jones Commercial.
After Graduation in 1971, worked for
1st National Bank, at that time my position was keypunch operator...
Later lived with my Aunt in Las Vegas for awhile..
Returned to Chicago and gained employment with Mary Thompson Hospital, located on the corner of Lake and Ashland...
My position there was Supervisor of Data Proessing...
In my spare time I did ramp modeling, appeared in the center fold of Jet Magazine and posed for several photo shots...
In June of 1978 was struck down my drunk driver, inwhich my neck was broken, which resulted in paraliysis, from the neck down....
After therapy there was still very limited movement...
In site of what happened, life went on......Expand for more
I got a chance to travel back and forward from
Las Vegas to Chicago, visiting friends and family members also while in Las Vegas attended
The Help Them Walk Again Foundation, getting a opportunity to work out more and absorbs the sun's healing rays, which I started to show a very noticable improvement...
Even though people can't see me with the natural eyes, running, dancing and leaping..I see it and that's all that matters.....
I now attend Living Word Christian Center located in Forest Park IL, where Bill Winston is my pastor....
Currently I have a position with NTI, working part-time, answering calls for Insurance Benefits,
Office Calls, Distribution Centers, Complaints and Customers....
Just goes to show you there is always something to be productive at if really you want to......
God is truly Goooood.......
