Shirley's Story

Life Not necessarily in order of importance, but who/what hits the brain cells first: Mel and I have been married 40 years (In April 2008)- yep that long. We have 7 grandchildren - Parents are Tammy Payne Shaw (our youngest daughter, a nurse on Mommie leave) and Tim Shaw, in Winston Salem. There are 2 boys, Jacob (13) and Simon (3yrs), 4 girls - Claire (11), Rebekah (10), Grace (8) and Eryn Rose (Rosie, age 5). July 5, 2007 Ava Kate Shaw - who smiles like her Grams does. The girls sing at Church and have been invited to other churches and related functions to sing. The group is called "Daddy's Girls", but they're really "Grams' Girls", just ask them! They will sing "Jesus Loves Me", but prefer "Living Waters", "My Father's House", etc. Rosie at 5 can belt it out with the best of them. Am I proud, NOT ME!! I never really knew what I wanted to be when I grew up (except I was going to be a secretary like Ann Southern, black glasses and all - task accomplished - former CPA Office Manager, but no black glasses-since HS anyway hahaha) until the grandchildren got here. Now I am GRAMS and loving every minute!! Thank you Lord for all of my blesses. Cindy is a business owner, hairstylist salon, in North Raleigh; and yes only my hairdresser knows for sure!! She owns a house in Clayton NC. She has 2 dogs and 1 cats and just spent a week at MDA camp with "her special boys"! This was her 3rd year and "MDA Lockup" is next week! Then there's the telethon that she works each Labor Day. We still see G...Expand for more
ail Glines Cisler; she is still my bestest friend;we talk almost as much as we did in HS. She & her 3 sons, & to be 4 grandsons and one granddaughter, are just as important to me as all of my siblings/their children are...I am in regular contact with Billy Bevan, Freewill Baptist Church pastor, Alabama (Sardia, I think). I now have my own bookkeeping business which I need to attend to NOW! I have non profit clients, Sylvan Learning Centers clients, and I love helping the elderly keep up their records and bill paying. They are the most satisfying of all. I work closely with the cpa firms involved with each of my clients, but I do "bookkeeping" but NOT taxes, unless it is totally & no way out necessary, except for ours. Up until this year I worked "tax season" with a CPA firm, but finally got that last client that made Jan-April my busiest time so I just "had" to give it up....Before that I was the office manager with cpa firms for about 20 years; I stayed, but the owners changed around me - I've been "brought and sold" and been through a "partner divorce" that probably worse than a marital divorce! and my "desk" never changed, just moved - until 1999! I quit to help take care of Dad in Manassas. That's when a former client from the firm called me & said: do my bookkeeping, here's the software, go for it!! Haven't look back since and I owe her! Maybe someday I can write a book - names changed to protect the innocent, of Course!! This was fun maybe you should try it!! Tell us about you!!
