Shirley's Story
Life
I have been married to Charles Johnson since May of 1982. Charles and I met at work while inside the United States Capitol Building, so you could say that "I found my thrill on Capitol Hill." We were both employed by the United States Capitol Police (USCP). Charles was a sergeant and I am a captain, so I outranked him at work and at home, which is what God truly intended. Charles retired in December of 2006.
I was employed with the USCP from May 22, 1978 until my retirement on December 3, 2010. The Capitol Police are responsible for the protection of 535 Members of Congress. We have over 1,700 sworn members and 300 civilians. I retired as the USCP Commander of the Co...Expand for more

Charles and I have four children, Angie (46) Becky (36), Rachael (33) and Daniel (31) We also have 8 grandchildren Kiera (23, Sydney (19 Nate (17) Kaylie (17), Matthew (13), Griffin (8), Ronan (6), and Finn 2 days old. We live in Clifton, Virginia, which is 28 miles from the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C. Life is Good!
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have coffee, coffee, and coffe to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
I always wanted to be a well adjusted human being when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a reasonable idea. As it turns out, they were somewhat right.
