There's a wonderful adage that says: "Its not the destination, but the journey that takes you there". Here's a bit of my journey: I accepted an invitation from my cousin, Eloise, to move to San Diego for college in August after our June graduation. It was a strange place with its own language (LaCienega?), food (tacos and burritos) and culture. I stayed long enough for a Master's in Ed Psych & Counseling and met some fascinating people along the way. One was Ron Karenga, the founder of Kwanzaa and the US Organization who gave me the name of "Chini", which means down to earth or of the earth. Long story short, I moved to Los Angeles and worked for Dr. David Satcher, an outstanding educator, doctor and administrator for the Drew School of Medicine who became United States Surgeon General with the Clinton and Bush Administrations. There's a Cleveland connection; he's a graduate of Case Western Reserve School of Medicine! Small world.
