Shirley's Story

Life Hi Ya'll: I'm finally back in a home with a yard !!! And it's 82 feet above sea level !!! Yea !!! "Katrina" was not a "lady" !!! After being in a FEMA "tin can" for 3 months I was lucky to find a 1 bedroom condo overlooking the pool in Diamondhead. I absolutely loved it there & was actually teaching myself how to tread water -- it's about time, huh ?? LOL But after 1 1/2 years there I became "claustrophobic" & missed my "space" & yard so I bought a house & am very happy here -- have made a lot of new friends & dance with the Diamondhead Dance Club performing once a month usually -- it's what I love to do !!! So, there is life after Katrina & it's good again !!! I sincerely hope that all my New Orleans & Slidell friends & former classmates are rebounding as well. I wish you all a very Merry Christmas & a Happy & Healthy New Year !!! Take care, Shirley DiGiovanni Brossette A childhood memory I will never...Expand for more
forget is when Santa left me the best new baby doll & stroller for Christmas when I was 5 yrs old. My first job was at FW Woolworth, Gentilly Woods, where I got paid meagerly to learn to be a responsible adult. What I remember most about it is working at all the different sections, the lunch counter being a real challenge. My best friend would tell you I'm funny, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as quiet. I work very hard as a paralegal for a real estate title company. I've retired twice but they won't let me stay retired !!! My current age is 67. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be very old. I was so completely wrong. Dancing rejuvenates me & makes me feel younger. I always wanted to be a trapeze artist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a ridiculous idea. As it turns out, they were soooo right. I just hope old friends still remember me !!!

Ok, another pic of Terri at OLPS but she is older here, more than likely 4th grade, like Terri said we moved to Chalmette in August of 1974 . So Terri went to OLPS in Kindergarten from Sept. 1969 thru June 1970. We moved

Wow, how could I forget my Step Dad, Hubert Martello. Such a quiet man who was always there whenever we had a problem, math, which bus to take to get downtown, etc. He passed away in 1995, then my Mother, Esther here in 1
