Shonda's Story
Life
After graduating from VA Tech in 93, I moved to Yorktown, Virginia where I worked several odd jobs. I became engaged in November of 94 to my husband, Jeff, who I met at VA Tech (we started dating in 91.) I accepted a job with SAIC in Hampton as a computer programmer in January of 95 and then we were married in August of 95. Our first daughter, Brettan, was born in June of 1999 and I became a stay-at-home-Mom. My husband accepted a new job in the Richmond area in September of 99 and I was offered the opportunity to continue working from home for SAIC. Our second daughter, Ellie, was born in June of 2003 and shortly after that I started my own home-based business designing children's stationery (my passion - I can't imagine ever stopping!) Currently we live in Chesterfield County, my husband works as a Professional Structural Engineer at an architectural firm, Brettan is almost 8 and in the 2nd grade and Ellie is almost 4 and in pre-school. We have been very blessed!!

major. While taking math-related computer classes, I realized how much I really liked computer-programming. I graduated in 1993 from Virginia Tech with a BS in Math and a minor in Economics. In January of 95 I accepted a computer programming position with Science Applications International Corp. in Hampton, VA.
Workplace
After graduating from VA Tech in 93, I worked odd jobs until January 95 when I joined SAIC in Hampton, Virginia as a Computer Programmer. I worked there until our first daughter was born in 99 and then became a stay-at-home Mom (a MUCH harder job!!) My husband accepted a new job in the Richmond area in 99, and I was offered the opportunity to continue working for SAIC from home, which I did for several years. In 2003, after our second daughter was born, I discovered my true passion - graphic design! I now design children's stationery and some of my cards are being sold by several online stationery retailers which is so exciting! I LOVE my "work", and I can't imagine not doing it. I'm a "work-at-home-Mom-of-2" and loving every minute of it!
