Shone's Story

Well for those of you who knew me back in Miami my life has taken a few turns since I left Miami to study music at Florida State University (FSU) way back in 1992. Unfortunately, although I am still an avid listener of Jazz my life strayed away from music. First, I went into Accounting (don't know what I was thinking there;-), but ended up developing a greater passion in software development, which transitioned from a hobby to a profession when I started as an Intern at Motorola back in 1996. Since graduating from FSU with an Accounting Major I have moved around a bit. First, I went to Chicago where I worked for Motorola and continued going to school at Depaul University's MBA program and more importantly got married to my college sweetheart from FSU. Right after finishing school, I moved back to Tampa, Florida to work at a start up company, Q-Link Technology, while still continuing school. We were glad to get as far away from snow as possible ;-). We had our first Child born there in Brandon, FL. After we lived in Tampa for about 4 years we moved out to California due to the company I worked for being acquired. We weren't to crazy about moving out of FL initially, but things have worked out well enough. I now work as a principal scientist for Adobe Systems doing some fun development in the LiveCycle division. Since being here for the past 3 years we have had two more additions to the family; a boy and as of 6 months ago (8/22/2007) a little girl. And yes, we are done at 3 ;-) Other big things that have happened, well we were able to take a 3 week trip out to NZ a year ago to visit some of the family I had out there as we...Expand for more
ll as have my Mom show me around her old neighborhood. Other than that my time in CA has mostly been characterized by work, work , and more work unfortunately. Things have been pretty hectic, and time has been flying bye. It really hit me this year when my wife began posting all of our friends and their respective kid's pictures on the refrigerator. Their kids are sprouting like weeds and my friends all look old ;-) Of course I have been balding since high-school, so..... The upcoming year is exciting for me on several fronts. First, my kids are at an awesome and fun stage, where everyday they are excited to see me come home and play some games. They are at the age where they are beginning to play more video games as well, WOOT!!! Second, well there is not enough goodness I can say about my wife, other than I am absolutely convinced I am the luckiest husband on the planet. On the work front, LiveCycle at Adobe is truely taking off now and its an exciting time at Adobe. I am enjoying the customer trips I have been making and the group I am working with. Also, the Sadler family is expecting yet another move (more places to see) in January 2009. We will finally be making it back to the East coast. But this time we will be moving to Atlanta, Georgia, where I will be going back to school full time at Georgia Tech to get a Masters in CS and do research on Programming Languages/Human Computer INteraction. I will still be an Adobe Employee on sabbatical. Should be fun (The water will at least be warm enough to swim in)! Best wishes everyone!
