Sidney Kwaku Walker:  

Life So where do I begin? I live in Lanham, Maryland. I have been in this area since I graduated from Ottawa University. I started grad school at Howard University in 1971 and finished in 1984 with my doctorate in African Studies. I have been teaching on the collegiate level for over 33 years and I was the Chair of the Department of English and Modern Languages at Bowie State University for two years. I also am a martial arts instructor, having achieved a black belt in two different styles, Kung fu (Chinese) and Kupigana ngumi (African fighting art). My children are doing well. My son, Kwaku, is the oldest. He has two daughters and our first grandson, Kwaku III. He is now a train operator for Metro. My daughter Yaa, has graduated from Harvard Business School after having graduated summa cum laude from Spelman College and Georgia Tech with degrees in Physics and Engineering. She is now working for the emarketing for the company that makes Pyrex with a nice, high-paying job! She was married to Quincy Stanley on May 28, 2006 and has a son, Jaden, who is one of the best middle distance runners in the country in his age group.
