Hi everyone, My friends used to call me Sie (C).
I moved to Chalmette, LA in 1985, have 3 wonderful kids,
and built my dream home. In Aug. 2005, my family and I evacuated 2 days prior to Hurricane Katrina. We thought we'd be away for a couple of days, then come back home, and never did we dream of the possibility of what happened. I saw my house on CNN from my hotel room with water covering the first floor completely with 9 ft. of water. We had to buy clothes because we only took a couple of days worth of changings. We stayed in different hotels from Texas to Western Louisiana for about 6 weeks after the storm, and finally found a place to rent (we were application number 159) in Slidell, Louisiana which was partially devistated by Katrina, but the people were allowed to come back home and some schools were openi...Expand for more

In St. Bernard Parish, where my home is located, we weren't allowed to go back to see the devistation until 4 weeks after the storm and curfew was at 6:00 p.m. due to no electricity. I can't begin to explain the devistation I saw. It looked like an atomic bomb hit our Parish. There were no more green plants. Everything was grey. I even saw a dead deer on a balcony of a home where no deer were ever nearby. We lost anything and everything located on first floor, but what hurts the most are pictures and videos of the kids. Anyway, I have rebuilt my home, some schools are open, and we moved back home. I even decided to go back to school, became a Real Estate Broker and own my business located in my hometown of Chalmette, one of the hardest hit areas. There is a light at the end of every tunnel.
