Simeon's Story
It's been a long time, so it's hard to recall who I was...essentially I was a moody, eccentric recluse who loved skateboarding, playing guitar with my band (Nemesis), listening to music, and guzzling sugar. I had a handful of good friends I know to this day, kept my head down, and never once got hazed (even though I probably deserved it), most likely because of my height.
My life really began after high school, when I came out of my shell a bit more. I really opened up at the University of Redlands, where I graduated with a Bachelor of Music degree (Classical Guitar Performance) in 1992 after growing my hair out, joining a fraternity (XEX), and doing my first bona fide professional band (CRUX) with a couple classmates. Stayed on in Redlands for five years after graduation ...Expand for more
doing my next band, Sages Of Memphis, who opened for Fishbone, Sublime, and No Doubt, and had Matt Nathanson open for us early in his career.
Did a semester of graduate school at CU Boulder in 1999, followed by a year in Scottsdale, AZ, before moving to San Diego in 2001, where I have been ever since. Met my wife Allison in 2002 and married her four years later (no kids yet). I've put out four solo albums so far, with a fifth about to drop next month. I've sung on all kinds of jingle pitches, some of which sold (including ones for Mattell and Dodge Jeep Chrysler), worked part-time at Fortuna Classical Music for 5 great years, have been a music journalist for the San Diego Troubadour for 9 years, and have basically enjoyedââand will continue to enjoyââa life of music.
