Sita's Story

After raising 5 normal (that's relative) children, I went to school and earned my Bachelor's and then Master's in May, 2009; I'm a late bloomer! As a bonus, the university offered to let me pursue a PhD, but after 1 year, I decided not to work that hard. It's been stated that our brains start to deteriorate after age 27. I wish someone had told me that earlier; I wouldn't have worked so hard for my degrees. However, the upside to all of this is that I am currently teaching English online for 2 universities, one being Brigham Young University - Idaho, my favorite. I get to live in southern Utah during the winter where I can hike all over Zion's National Park, in my home a few months, and then up at Bear Lake (Garden City), Utah--just about anywhere there is internet with enough bandwidth. As for grandchildren, I'm now up to 21, two who are married, and see them quite often--they keep me young. I have a beautiful bike I ride all over town to do grocery shopping, visit "The Kids," and shop at Kohl's with my 30% off, which means I have to limit my shopping to what fits in the baskets. Well, I hit 70 and my children can't figure out when I'm going to act my age. Anyway, all of that keeps me out of trouble; otherwise, who knows where I'd be. I'll be back in a few years. 2020, the year of COVID-19 - I can see it...there's a light at the end of the tunnel of serfdom. I put my house (more like a cottage that accommodates the entire family of 28 children, grandchildren, and 1 great grandchild) up for sale, a...Expand for more
nd after being under contract for 1 day, I'm keeping fingers, toes, legs, and eyes crossed that it goes through. THEN I'm going to retire from full-time university and keep teaching 1 class online for BYUI. I believe the "kids" are all done having children (See photo of most of them in the gallery). What shall I do when for the first time in my life I have all those hours to fill? I shall enjoy the things I've been wanting to do for years, but that does not mean sitting in a rocking chair waiting for grandchildren to come over and eat my better-than-Mrs. Fields'-cookies. Since having 2 new hips and an entire shoulder replaced with titanium (getting old sux), I'm geared up to hit Adventureland--literally in Disneyland when it reopens--and wherever the open road (or sky) takes me. I have my beautiful trailer with a fireplace and big screen TV, my best friend Gracie (see photo in gallery), and finally TIME. I'll be living in that trailer until my youngest and his wife add a "My Favorite-Mother-in-Law" (according to my daughter-in-law) apartment to their home. If it takes into the winter to complete, I'll head back down to southern Utah where it does not hit below zero. Speaking of time, it is a curious time of life. Friends have passed away, grandchildren are grown except for my baby boy's children, and each day I'm grateful I am mobile, cogent (I think), and have a family who cares about and for me. Enough "I" and "me," even though this is the genre that encourages it. See you on the next adventure.
