Skip's Story
Life
skip's bio:
i attended drake hi from 1962 thru 1964, at which point my family moved to terra
linda, where i graduated (barely) in 66.
my sister sally robertson, who graduated in 64, preceded me. unlike myself, she has
attained an admirable station in life: co-owner of a sucessful and renowned art gallery in
san francisco, and now an admired and sucessful watercolor artist.
at 55, i can't really claim many accomplishments of significance. oh, i'm bright
enough, but lacking either ambition or organizational skills, i have drifted thru life
pretty randomly. a late blooming interest in music has provided my primary motivation:
i play guitar and violin with a crude sort of vitality which by no means offsets my total
lack of talent for either. i have found a satisfying job as a psych tech at sonoma county's
acute mental health care center (oak crest), where my instability actually works in my favor
(i always tell my patien...Expand for more
ts that the main difference between us is that i have the keys...)
my dad, bob robertson, was one of the giants of the american labor movemen, and,
like many children of compelling parents, it took me a while to find any sort of coherence
in my own endeavors.
with my music partner, timothy harning of fairfax, i have formed a duo, the lo life
brothers. and while i'm pretty hard to please musically, i really like what we are doing.
'acoustic music with rock intensity' we call it.
that's about it. i own a small home in santa rosa, with a recording studio designed
by artist Regina Meyers. i still love to read, shakespeare to science fiction. some of my
inspirations are bach, coltrane, miles, hendrix, ali akbar khan, and scotty stoneman. i
was a pretty low profile young man at drake, "he has a great deal to be modest about", and
really, pretty low key i remain. all communications from my old peer group would be
appreciated.
